The Heritage Garden
The Heritage Garden presents a unique setting for all kinds of celebrations.
Established
in the 1880’s it retains many original features including graceful sloping lawns,
a rotunda, and the magnificent Heritage Oak.
Planted in 1850 by to commemorate the establishment of our state, this tree is included on the National Trust's Register of Significant Trees.
In a protected environment, it has retained its natural form of low sweeping branches. Here also are rare cork oaks and polar and elm avenues. The area south of the convent, down to the Yarra River (Birrarung), was originally used by the Sisters as extensive market gardens and vegetable plots. this tree has become a symbol of independence, strength and beauty and is a favorite place for wedding ceremonies.
The options are endless for our garden settings. The only limit to this style of entertaining is your imagination.
